Curriculum & methodology

The technical acceleration curriculum.

Team practices prioritize tactics and team shape. ETA isolates the technical foundations that make individual players shine.

Goal: unconscious ball control under pressure

Ball mastery & quick feet

High-frequency touch repetitions using all surfaces of both feet: inside, outside, sole, laces. Change of direction, sole rolls, scissors and body feints until ball handling is second nature.

Goal: courage and dominance in individual matchups

1v1 attacking & defending

Live, high-intensity 1v1 duels. Attackers learn explosive change of pace, separation moves and protecting the ball. Defenders learn angling, jockeying posture and clean ball-winning.

Goal: fast, purposeful first touches into space

First touch & directional receiving

The half-turn receive, directional first touches away from pressure, and aerial cushion control. Fewer wasted touches, faster execution in real matches.

Goal: clean contact and composure in front of goal

Striking & finishing

Instep drive for power, side-foot placement for precision, and finishing off the bounce or first touch inside the box, with both feet.

ETA questions

Do I have to be a CCFC Youth player to join ETA?
No. ETA is open to players from any club. Register on PlayMetrics the same way every family does, and your player is grouped by birth year and technical ability like everyone else.
Who participates in ETA sessions?
Players from any club, across every competitive and recreational level, from Recreation players accelerating their footwork to starters in MLS NEXT and Girls Academy. Players are grouped by birth year and technical ability. In 2025–26, about 250 CCFC Youth players trained in ETA: roughly 120 from MLS NEXT and the Girls Academy, more than 50 from Pre-MLS and Pre-GA, and about 80 from Recreation, Juniors and Classic.
What if we miss a session?
ETA operates Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. More days are being added as demand grows, and current families get first access to new slots.
Is the trial session really free?
Yes. Complete the trial request form and your player takes part in a complete 60-minute session with no credit card and no obligation to join afterwards.
Is there a contract?
No. You register for the 2026–27 season and are billed $100 a month through PlayMetrics. We ask families to commit to the season because ETA works through weekly repetition, not a few weeks here and there.
