Why teams come back
A weekend that holds up.
February decides a lot of tournaments for them. This one is built to give teams real minutes before the spring season counts, and to keep the schedule when the weather turns.
We move brackets instead of cancelling themPlay is on grass whenever conditions allow. When they do not, 16–18 turf fields across the venue set take the bracket and the weekend goes ahead.
Three games guaranteedEvery entered team plays three, regardless of results. No team drives home after one.

Where you play
Five venues. Sixteen to eighteen turf fields.
The venue set is chosen for February. Turf carries a weekend that grass cannot, and the fields sit along the I-85 and I-40 corridor between High Point, Kernersville, Asheboro and Browns Summit.

When is the 2027 Winter Shootout?
February 12–14, 2027, across five venues in High Point, Kernersville, Asheboro and Browns Summit, North Carolina.
What happens if the weather turns?
We play on grass whenever conditions allow, and move brackets onto turf when they do not. We hold 16–18 turf fields across the venue set for exactly that. Most tournaments have nowhere to move to, which is why a wet or frozen February takes so many of them off the calendar.
Where exactly is it played?
Phillips Park in High Point, Ivey Redmon in Kernersville, the Cone Health ZooCity Sportsplex in Asheboro and Truist at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, plus Truist Point in High Point when the professional stadium is available. Your bracket's venue is confirmed with your schedule.
Who can enter?
Competitive club teams U9 through U14 in both boys and girls divisions, and U15 through U19 boys. Teams travelled from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee for the 2026 edition.
How many games does a team play?
Three, guaranteed, in every bracket. Divisions are decided on the weekend, with a champion and finalist named in each.
What does entry cost?
Early entry runs $450 for 7v7 at 9U–10U up to $850 for 11v11 at 15U–19U. Regular entry adds $50 in every age group. There is a separate $20 online check-in fee per team.
When do applications open?
They are open now. Apply on SincSports through the button at the top of this page; brackets fill before the February 1 deadline in most age groups. If you would rather talk it through first, send your club and age groups through the form on this page and we will confirm the bracket you fit.
How are brackets flighted?
Divisions are flighted by level, labelled Green, Orange, Yellow and Red, so teams play opponents of similar standard. Tell us your league and recent results and we will place you.
Is there a stay-to-play requirement?
Travelling teams book through the tournament's partner hotel block. Details go out with your acceptance email.
Can we guest-play players?
Yes, within NCYSA and US Youth Soccer rules. Guest players are added during online check-in with a valid pass.

Every February, tournaments across the Carolinas lose weekends to rain and frozen ground, and the teams that travelled eat the hotel nights. We play on grass like everyone else when the weather allows. The difference is what happens when it does not.
16–18 turf fields in reserve
Not the everyday surface. The fallback, held across the venue set so a forecast is not what decides your weekend.
Somewhere to move to
When a grass complex is unplayable we shift the bracket onto turf and kick off. Most events have nowhere to shift to, which is why they cancel.
